Cushion Sand is a general purpose sand that has not been screened or processed. Cushion Sand is used under concrete work, pipe embedment, etc. It is beige to yellow in color, and will occasionally have small amounts of clay or sandstones.
Masonry Sand is the very same sand used to mix concrete for brick laying. It is a clean, fine-grained sand used to make mortar. Masonry sand is often requested to use as a base under paving stones because it is easier to work with than utility sand.
Washed sand is surface mined, screened and washed to remove silt and clay, then allowed to drain. It is typically a light buff color, almost off-white. Washed sand is a finely graded sand and can be used for fill, to top-dress golf course greens, and as a base for laying brick and pavers.
Used by Golf Courses for bunkers, play sand, volleyball courts, beaches, etc.
Used for landscaping projects to create a strong base layer.
